How is it November already?!

I mean really, how did that happen?! This has been my first week back after taking time off from running. So far my compression socks have been helping sooo much! I’m very happy with them and need to start buying more for sure. With the cooler weather finally hitting SWFL running outside has actually been tolerable. I was able to run sprints last night outside and not feel like I was going to die 😂 

Hope everyone had a happy Halloween and has recovered from their candy comas!

Post Irma Update

It’s been a crazy couple weeks here in SWFL. The first week watching and waiting to see what Hurricane Irma was all about and where she would end up. We hunkered down with family through the worst of it. In the midst of Irma though we developed a wicked case of food poisoning 🤢 It has run its course through EVERYONE with some of us enjoying a second round. Happy to say we have had power for several days. Waiting for schools to open back up on Monday as so many were utilized as shelters. We were very lucky compared to my friends and coworkers who live in counties south of us. 

Now things are slowly returning to normal: still lots of empty shelfs at the grocery stores as so many had to toss everything due to extended power loss and it’s hit or miss finding gas stations with gas for sale. I’m just happy that we all made it and still have roofs over our heads ❤️

Just Breathe

What a week and a half! The kids (and the grown-ups) had a blast last weekend celebrating everyone’s birthdays! There was sun, swimming, presents, cake, and karaoke 😂 lots of laughs and love ❤️ 

I managed to get in over 9 miles while we were in vacation mode, even after having a few too many the night before. Was proud of myself for sticking with it and hitting the pavement at sunrise. 

This week was back to school for all three kiddos. I’m still grasping the fact that my munchkin is in first grade. How did that happen so fast?!

Tomorrow I’m heading to Fit 2 Run for gait analysis and purchasing some new shoes. After failing to complete my 9 miler Wednesday I came to the conclusion that in order to keep up with my training for my race in December I have to make the investment. Stay tuned for what I come home with 😀

August craziness!

This time of year is filled with ALL the craziness! From August thru September all three kiddos have birthdays (12, 8, and 6 this year 🙈). Add in all the back to school madness to the mix and it becomes a really intense time of year! 

Since I last wrote I have officially signed up for my first half-marathon!!!! I am so freaking excited, scared, overwhelmed I can barely stand it! My sweetie and I tackled back to school shopping for our kiddos and for our niece and nephew, birthday shopping for all three kiddos (and they are EPIC), and I snuck in some clothes shopping at my favorite kids consignment shop for some great deals! 

This weekend we will be celebrating the kiddos birthdays and having one last hurrah before school starts on Monday. My munchkin is starting 1st grade at a new school, but as nervous as she says she is I know how flexible she is becoming as she gets older. 

Any suggestions for my first half-marathon? Go-to products? 

Rut be gone!

Man oh man! Last couple weeks I was in a SERIOUS rut. I came up with every excuse in the book to put off or skip a workout/run, eat this when I should be eating that, etc…I just felt stagnant and stuck.

Late last week though the fog lifted and I got my butt back in gear. Had an awesome 4 mile run and weight session Saturday which solidified how much I need the increased activity in my life. It wore me out, but I felt great afterwards – mentally, physically, and emotionally. 

Sunday I prepped my lunches for the week and got to use my new electric wok which was super exciting! Never thought I would love a kitchen appliance as much as I love it! Normally when I make a big batch of fried rice I have to divide it into 3 batches because my stovetop wok was so small. To be able to get it all done at once was a nice treat and timesaver! So happy my step-mom didn’t have a need for it in her kitchen now that they’re all unpacked. Score for me!

Last night I tried out a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout and holy crap! I was insanely worn, wobble legs and all, and lets talk about how I’m definitely feeling it this morning! Definitely going to have to add that into the rotation on non-run days.

I need a vacation…

Hope everyone had a fantabulous weekend! I definitely enjoyed my 3 day weekend 😀

Started the weekend off Friday wondering just how effective my interval training has been with increasing my endurance. My co-workers were talking about all doing a 5K ina few months and it got me thinking….dangerous right?! I decided I would see how well I could run a 5K. In less than 36mins apparently 🙌🏻 Last mile was rough but I’m super proud of myself for not giving up. 


The rest of the weekend was spent with family enjoying super yummy food I don’t normally eat. Chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, homemade white gravy….so worth every bite! Since my guy and I both had Monday off we decided to head to our favorite spot and do a little night fishing. Only caught a catfish, but the views didn’t disappoint!

This morning I got to start my day at the Character Breakfast Celebration where my munchkin received an award for being a shining example of gratitude. Ugh. My heart could burst with how proud I am of her and how proud she was to be recognized by her classmates and teacher for this! 

Let’s finish the week strong and make it a great weekend! Weather isn’t going to be that great in this neck of the woods but we desperately need the rain here in SWFL. We have a MASSIVE wildfire burning a few miles down I-75 from us that has been burning since last Saturday that has burned almost 4000 acres. Across the state right now there are I think close to 15 wildfires going. This time of year down here can be rough so I’m grateful for a rainy weekend and hope it puts an end to our fires for a bit.
