Months of prep and it’s here…race day! I’m a bundle of nerves and excitement right now secretly hoping I’ve made the right decision as far as clothes thanks to this cold front that decided to come through.
Packet pickup yesterday was pretty cool. I feel like this was the perfect race for me given the location – Nathan Benderson Park, which is quickly becoming a world renowned location for rowing. I feel like high school Jackie and adult Jackie are crossing paths. My final mile I will literally be running on the racecourse with the help of a floating mile long platform! Here’s hoping my legs don’t give out and I end up in the water 😂

Can I just shout from the mountains how much I love my Fitbit Blaze?!?! I am so thankful for my sweetie surprising me with this bad boy 😍 I’m a visual person and love being able to compare my runs and actually see my progress. I’m coming up on 1 month of having it and I’m still over the moon with it!
I bit the bullet as far as my training goes and made a change. I felt really bogged down and frankly bored with it. I downloaded Aaptiv for a free trial and so far it’s been great. The training is much more varied than my previous program focusing on endurance, tempo, and speed. Last night my first sprint workout absolutely kicked my butt!
With being just over 100 days out from my first half-marathon I knew if I was going to change up my training I needed to do it asap and I’m so happy I did 😀 That and my new running shoes have really given me a boost in motivation 🙌🏻
What a week and a half! The kids (and the grown-ups) had a blast last weekend celebrating everyone’s birthdays! There was sun, swimming, presents, cake, and karaoke 😂 lots of laughs and love ❤️
I managed to get in over 9 miles while we were in vacation mode, even after having a few too many the night before. Was proud of myself for sticking with it and hitting the pavement at sunrise.
This week was back to school for all three kiddos. I’m still grasping the fact that my munchkin is in first grade. How did that happen so fast?!
Tomorrow I’m heading to Fit 2 Run for gait analysis and purchasing some new shoes. After failing to complete my 9 miler Wednesday I came to the conclusion that in order to keep up with my training for my race in December I have to make the investment. Stay tuned for what I come home with 😀
Yes. I am alive. I promise. I have been neglecting blogging and I apologize. We have had a busy few weeks but all for good stuff. We had a GREAT visit with my parents, a much needed long weekend to just laugh and relax! All the kids had a blast at the water park and hanging with my parents. We even had a great karaoke session our last night there. Oh the videos! 😂
On the workout front, I have reached the halfway point in my interval training program 🙌🏻 I have a big run scheduled tonight with a slated distance of 7 miles. I came close to my last goal of 6 miles so I’m excited to see how this goes. It’s scary and slightly overwhelming but I’m trying not to psych myself out before I even lace up my running shoes.
Can I just say I am sooooo late to party when it comes to podcasts?! I am wrapping up season 2 of Serial and have a few that I enjoy to stay on top of politics and keep an eye on TrumpCare. I work in the medical field, predominantly with Medicare and Medicaid recipients who could potentially be impacted by this bill so I am very interested in any and all developments. I’ve also been listening to some from the Marathon Training Academy.
Hello leg day! This morning we rocked our leg workout! It felt so good to challenge myself and see how far I could push myself. Can’t wait to start seeing my progress now that we will be going into week 3 of weight training.
