Just Breathe

What a week and a half! The kids (and the grown-ups) had a blast last weekend celebrating everyone’s birthdays! There was sun, swimming, presents, cake, and karaoke 😂 lots of laughs and love ❤️ 

I managed to get in over 9 miles while we were in vacation mode, even after having a few too many the night before. Was proud of myself for sticking with it and hitting the pavement at sunrise. 

This week was back to school for all three kiddos. I’m still grasping the fact that my munchkin is in first grade. How did that happen so fast?!

Tomorrow I’m heading to Fit 2 Run for gait analysis and purchasing some new shoes. After failing to complete my 9 miler Wednesday I came to the conclusion that in order to keep up with my training for my race in December I have to make the investment. Stay tuned for what I come home with 😀

I know, I know…

Yes. I am alive. I promise. I have been neglecting blogging and I apologize. We have had a busy few weeks but all for good stuff. We had a GREAT visit with my parents, a much needed long weekend to just laugh and relax! All the kids had a blast at the water park and hanging with my parents. We even had a great karaoke session our last night there. Oh the videos! 😂 

On the workout front, I have reached the halfway point in my interval training program 🙌🏻 I have a big run scheduled tonight with a slated distance of 7 miles. I came close to my last goal of 6 miles so I’m excited to see how this goes. It’s scary and slightly overwhelming but I’m trying not to psych myself out before I even lace up my running shoes. 

Can I just say I am sooooo late to party when it comes to podcasts?! I am wrapping up season 2 of Serial and have a few that I enjoy to stay on top of politics and keep an eye on TrumpCare. I work in the medical field, predominantly with Medicare and Medicaid recipients who could potentially be impacted by this bill so I am very interested in any and all developments. I’ve also been listening to some from the Marathon Training Academy. 

What are your go-to podcasts? Any suggestions?

Late Night Weights

Missed weights in the AM due to a toddler in my bed when my alarm went off so we ventured out with the big boys and lifted last night. Definitely felt those split squats again as well as the lunges last night….and still feeling this morning. I’ve been dragging for the last day and a half and I am hoping to get out of this funk some time soon because it’s really getting old.

Jello Arms

I have to say with increasing my weights today my arm workout was much more fulfilling than last week! My arms were definitely shaking for each rep of the bench press. Working my way up to 8-12 reps, only able to do three sets of 5 right now but you have to start somewhere. Feeling much better like the funk is starting to lift. Looking forward to keeping on track with full body day tomorrow.

This Girl’s Quads Are On Fire!

Couldn’t resist a little Alicia Key’s after this morning’s leg workout! As hard as today’s workout was it felt amazing. Here’s a run down of what we did today:

  • Barbell Squats
  • Barbell Lunges
  • Barbell Deadlifts
  • Front Squats
  • Clean Barbells
  • Leg Press
  • Goblet Squats

Tomorrow is my outdoor run and I know I will be feeling this workout. I think this first week of training has been a success and can’t look forward to continuing on this journey!
