I mean really, how did that happen?! This has been my first week back after taking time off from running. So far my compression socks have been helping sooo much! I’m very happy with them and need to start buying more for sure. With the cooler weather finally hitting SWFL running outside has actually been tolerable. I was able to run sprints last night outside and not feel like I was going to die 😂
Hope everyone had a happy Halloween and has recovered from their candy comas!
Can I just shout from the mountains how much I love my Fitbit Blaze?!?! I am so thankful for my sweetie surprising me with this bad boy 😍 I’m a visual person and love being able to compare my runs and actually see my progress. I’m coming up on 1 month of having it and I’m still over the moon with it!
I bit the bullet as far as my training goes and made a change. I felt really bogged down and frankly bored with it. I downloaded Aaptiv for a free trial and so far it’s been great. The training is much more varied than my previous program focusing on endurance, tempo, and speed. Last night my first sprint workout absolutely kicked my butt!
With being just over 100 days out from my first half-marathon I knew if I was going to change up my training I needed to do it asap and I’m so happy I did 😀 That and my new running shoes have really given me a boost in motivation 🙌🏻
This time of year is filled with ALL the craziness! From August thru September all three kiddos have birthdays (12, 8, and 6 this year 🙈). Add in all the back to school madness to the mix and it becomes a really intense time of year!
Since I last wrote I have officially signed up for my first half-marathon!!!! I am so freaking excited, scared, overwhelmed I can barely stand it! My sweetie and I tackled back to school shopping for our kiddos and for our niece and nephew, birthday shopping for all three kiddos (and they are EPIC), and I snuck in some clothes shopping at my favorite kids consignment shop for some great deals!
This weekend we will be celebrating the kiddos birthdays and having one last hurrah before school starts on Monday. My munchkin is starting 1st grade at a new school, but as nervous as she says she is I know how flexible she is becoming as she gets older.
Any suggestions for my first half-marathon? Go-to products?
So far I have to say I’m in love with my new training app. I ran my longest distance so far since I started this journey and today 2.9 miles on the elliptical was like nothing! Tomorrow is another run day and I’m actually excited!!
So with making the decision to start this journey this is my first week in the gym. I go to my local YMCA which is luckily open early so I can squeeze in an hour before I have to get ready for work. I managed to make it monday, wednesday, and this morning.
I love warming up on the erg (ergometer/rowing machine) simply because I will always have a love of rowing and it targets every area no matter if I’m focusing on legs, arms, etc. after some light stretching I move on to whichever area of machines that I want to focus on. I LOVE the leg press machine for my quads and calf muscles! That and kettlebells! They are my new obsession. I’m on Pinterest every night looking for different exercises with them. My ultimate fitness goal is to run a half-marathon so I am trying to turn myself into a runner again. My first short-term goal is to run a 5k November 28th. From there I don’t know what my next goal will be, but I guess I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it!
I’m not sure if I will have any readers with this, but accountability is something important since I am completing this journey by myself. If you are still reading, thank you and I hope you enjoy the updates to come!
