Motivation Monday

You’ve heard it. You’ve seen it. Never miss a Monday.

I don’t plan on missing it because today I get to take my new shoes for a spin tonight 🙌🏻 I’m so excited!!

My trip to Fit 2 Run in Sarasota went great. After my gait analysis I tried on several pairs of shoes and found my perfect match in a pair of Asics. Told the guy I felt like Cinderella when I tried them on the second time 😂

After finding my new shoes I ventured to Walmart to pick up all the meal prep necessities. Got home and prepped so much fruit for my morning smoothies: bananas, blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Then made this awesome dish: https://thirdshiftfit-wordpress-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/thirdshiftfit.wordpress.com/2016/01/13/chicken-spinach-artichoke-pasta/amp/

I forgot the artichoke hearts while shopping but it turned out amazing and great sized portions for the week. I roasted some broccoli and red onion to go along with it.

I’ll check in after my first run with my new shoes!

Rut be gone!

Man oh man! Last couple weeks I was in a SERIOUS rut. I came up with every excuse in the book to put off or skip a workout/run, eat this when I should be eating that, etc…I just felt stagnant and stuck.

Late last week though the fog lifted and I got my butt back in gear. Had an awesome 4 mile run and weight session Saturday which solidified how much I need the increased activity in my life. It wore me out, but I felt great afterwards – mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Sunday I prepped my lunches for the week and got to use my new electric wok which was super exciting! Never thought I would love a kitchen appliance as much as I love it! Normally when I make a big batch of fried rice I have to divide it into 3 batches because my stovetop wok was so small. To be able to get it all done at once was a nice treat and timesaver! So happy my step-mom didn’t have a need for it in her kitchen now that they’re all unpacked. Score for me!

Shredded boneless skinless chicken thighs in the crockpot, fried rice with veggies and egg, with broccoli and cabbage 😍

Last night I tried out a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout and holy crap! I was insanely worn, wobble legs and all, and lets talk about how I’m definitely feeling it this morning! Definitely going to have to add that into the rotation on non-run days.

I’m trying my best to log parts of my journey here. For more day to day stuff make sure to find me on Instagram @eat_run_mom_repeat

Well, this sucks

A couple months ago I was the sickest I have been in a LONG time. Started off with Flu A and B, then viral bronchitis, which turned into a viral pneumonia. After I finally kicked it I made the decision to make better choices for myself and to get moving again. I felt like I finally hit my rhythm and guess what?!

Several coworkers were sick last week and my munchkin had the start of an ear infection on Tuesday so I knew I would end up with something…

I’m proud of myself for still getting my meals prepped for lunch this week. Nothing fancy but it works considering I felt like I was near death cooking it.

Now I will sit here with my homemade soup and binge season one of Vikings until I fall asleep 😴

Holy Moly

What a looooong weekend! My parents recently relocated to Florida and started construction on a new house. This past week they closed and got the keys! Yay! That meant moving them from their rental to their new home this weekend. You know you are getting more steps in that usual when your app chirps at you cheering you on before 10am lol 😂

Because of limited time and funds Sunday night meal prep is pretty basic. Made some tuna salad with mashed avocado instead of mayo and a cucumber/onion salad in a red wine vinaigrette. Boiled some eggs for snacks too. Nothing fancy but it works!

What are your go-to meal preps when you lack time/funds?

Where do I start?!

Now that I finally have a few moments while munchkin warms up at gymnastics I’ll fill you in on the craziness that is life!

So let’s see. I prepped some awesome lunches for the week on Sunday.

Baked boneless skinless chicken thighs, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and loads of roasted veggies! Sunday was also my best run by far!

It felt great to really push myself and hit by highest mileage in a long time. Work has been crazy the last week or two and my two runs this weekend were a MAJOR stress reliever. I’m down three pounds since restarting this journey and making a commitment to getting healthy! I took some pics to track visual progress just because I know the number in the scale isn’t the the ‘end all, be all’. I’m already noticing some small changes in my body which is great. I even had a patient point out how different I look from my picture on my badge.

This was end of July 2016! What a difference stress reduction and a healthier lifestyle make!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Tomorrow is hump day already!!!

I’m back I swear

Phew! What a long holiday weekend!!

Managed to get a good run in Friday morning before the craziness ensued which was a plus!

Great day/night with family: barbecue at the park which resulted in two very tired kiddos. More family time Saturday swimming and more swimming. Despite waking up with a vicious migraine Sunday I spent the first half of the day in the kitchen. Had to make sides for easter dinner: mashed sweet potato casserole and mashed potatoes, both turned out super yummy 😋 While making those I got my meal prep done.

My teriyaki chicken cooked overnight in crockpot so all I had to do was shred it. Made brown fried rice along with roasted: tri-color peppers, green beans, mushrooms, baby carrots, and broccoli. After looking at my meal tracking last week I needed to up my protein and reduce fat. Much better ratios with this meal and snack choices this week.

As much as I didn’t want to I made myself run last night and I CRUSHED it! 3.30 miles with my interval training app plus weights.

Definitely kicked my own ass last night but it felt great! Tonight is gymnastics night for munchkin which means late dinner. I’m debating on running the stairs in our building tonight instead of taking a rest day…

Sore Today, Strong Tomorrow

After lifting weights two days in a row this weekend I am definitely feeling it! I forgot how good it feels 😀

Saturday I completed 3.05 miles with my Zenlabs 13.1 training. I had this ‘ah hah’ moment mid-point in that run…this rush of happiness and unbelievable clarity that reminded me how much I truly loved running. I was only planning on completing my run and calling it a day but I felt so great afterwards that I decided to do some weights too!

Sunday was weights only, full body session, alllll the squats! Then spent the evening prepping. I put together Greek turkey burgers that smelled ah-mazing and I can’t wait to did into them for lunch today!

Short week this week so all four meals prepped and ready to grab and go.

I prepped so many veggies that I was able to make a yummy pasta primavera for dinner and have plenty left over for tonight.
