Monday Motivation

I recently came across a link for a running group called Moms RUN This Town and got sooo excited! I’m reaching a point in my training for my half-marathon where I’m going to start with some long outdoor runs and I thought “What a great group!” But then realized that there wasn’t a group located near me. From that point I set it aside for a couple weeks. This weekend I decided to do something about it though. I started the process to actually become a chapter leader here in the North Port, FL area. No one has joined yet, but it’s a start!

I know, I know…

Yes. I am alive. I promise. I have been neglecting blogging and I apologize. We have had a busy few weeks but all for good stuff. We had a GREAT visit with my parents, a much needed long weekend to just laugh and relax! All the kids had a blast at the water park and hanging with my parents. We even had a great karaoke session our last night there. Oh the videos! 😂

On the workout front, I have reached the halfway point in my interval training program 🙌🏻 I have a big run scheduled tonight with a slated distance of 7 miles. I came close to my last goal of 6 miles so I’m excited to see how this goes. It’s scary and slightly overwhelming but I’m trying not to psych myself out before I even lace up my running shoes.

Can I just say I am sooooo late to party when it comes to podcasts?! I am wrapping up season 2 of Serial and have a few that I enjoy to stay on top of politics and keep an eye on TrumpCare. I work in the medical field, predominantly with Medicare and Medicaid recipients who could potentially be impacted by this bill so I am very interested in any and all developments. I’ve also been listening to some from the Marathon Training Academy.

What are your go-to podcasts? Any suggestions?

Rut be gone!

Man oh man! Last couple weeks I was in a SERIOUS rut. I came up with every excuse in the book to put off or skip a workout/run, eat this when I should be eating that, etc…I just felt stagnant and stuck.

Late last week though the fog lifted and I got my butt back in gear. Had an awesome 4 mile run and weight session Saturday which solidified how much I need the increased activity in my life. It wore me out, but I felt great afterwards – mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Sunday I prepped my lunches for the week and got to use my new electric wok which was super exciting! Never thought I would love a kitchen appliance as much as I love it! Normally when I make a big batch of fried rice I have to divide it into 3 batches because my stovetop wok was so small. To be able to get it all done at once was a nice treat and timesaver! So happy my step-mom didn’t have a need for it in her kitchen now that they’re all unpacked. Score for me!

Shredded boneless skinless chicken thighs in the crockpot, fried rice with veggies and egg, with broccoli and cabbage 😍

Last night I tried out a HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout and holy crap! I was insanely worn, wobble legs and all, and lets talk about how I’m definitely feeling it this morning! Definitely going to have to add that into the rotation on non-run days.

I’m trying my best to log parts of my journey here. For more day to day stuff make sure to find me on Instagram @eat_run_mom_repeat

Let’s Go Streaking!

Not THAT kind of streaking! Get your mind out of the gutter! 😂

A fellow runner I follow on Instagram did this last year and as soon as I saw she started it this month I just had to! Who wants to join me?! Take the challenge and walk, jog, or run 1 mile every day. If you are in Instagram make sure to tag your photo with #streakingwiththecoolkids to join this awesome community. I don’t use Facebook but there is also a group on their you can join.

Today I know I won’t get an interval run in so I did my walk on my lunch break.

So who’s streaking with me?!

Monday Motivation

This weekend I had my absolute, without a doubt, best run – EVER!

Friday was my weights day and I had an awesome time, but my run on Saturday took the cake! I almost caved and didn’t do it. It was intimidating. Including warm-up and cool-down the elapsed time was 1hr and that filled me with doubt. About 21mins in I reached a point that was just ‘wow’. I guess you could say it was my ‘zone’ but it felt amazing!

I am so happy I pushed myself to stay consistent because after that 4.83 miles….I felt invincible!

Where do I start?!

Now that I finally have a few moments while munchkin warms up at gymnastics I’ll fill you in on the craziness that is life!

So let’s see. I prepped some awesome lunches for the week on Sunday.

Baked boneless skinless chicken thighs, quinoa, sweet potatoes, and loads of roasted veggies! Sunday was also my best run by far!

It felt great to really push myself and hit by highest mileage in a long time. Work has been crazy the last week or two and my two runs this weekend were a MAJOR stress reliever. I’m down three pounds since restarting this journey and making a commitment to getting healthy! I took some pics to track visual progress just because I know the number in the scale isn’t the the ‘end all, be all’. I’m already noticing some small changes in my body which is great. I even had a patient point out how different I look from my picture on my badge.

This was end of July 2016! What a difference stress reduction and a healthier lifestyle make!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far! Tomorrow is hump day already!!!

I’m back I swear

Phew! What a long holiday weekend!!

Managed to get a good run in Friday morning before the craziness ensued which was a plus!

Great day/night with family: barbecue at the park which resulted in two very tired kiddos. More family time Saturday swimming and more swimming. Despite waking up with a vicious migraine Sunday I spent the first half of the day in the kitchen. Had to make sides for easter dinner: mashed sweet potato casserole and mashed potatoes, both turned out super yummy 😋 While making those I got my meal prep done.

My teriyaki chicken cooked overnight in crockpot so all I had to do was shred it. Made brown fried rice along with roasted: tri-color peppers, green beans, mushrooms, baby carrots, and broccoli. After looking at my meal tracking last week I needed to up my protein and reduce fat. Much better ratios with this meal and snack choices this week.

As much as I didn’t want to I made myself run last night and I CRUSHED it! 3.30 miles with my interval training app plus weights.

Definitely kicked my own ass last night but it felt great! Tonight is gymnastics night for munchkin which means late dinner. I’m debating on running the stairs in our building tonight instead of taking a rest day…
